* Package includes base salary $101, $108,447.00, employer's contribution to superannuation plus 8.5% loading for working weekends and public holidays
* Temporary Full-time role available until April 2026 (with a possibility of conversion to ongoing)
* Located in Perisher Valley

About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Field Supervisor Operations and Maintenance to work in a leadership role managing a highly committed team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and aboriginal heritage of the beautiful Perisher Valley area.

Based in Perisher Valley, this role is responsible for delivering key municipal services to the stakeholders and visitors to the Perisher Range resorts area within Kosciuszko National Park. In winter you will manage the staff and contractors providing waste management and freight services, snow grooming and snow clearing, and parking and oversnow traffic control. Outside the winter season you will lead the team as they undertake pest and weed control, revegetation and rehabilitation programs, as well as facilities, road, and stormwater maintenance.

About You

Your strong communication and leadership skills are essential for the success of this role. The ideal candidate will be motivated to drive a positive and collaborative culture throughout the team. You'll have a level of autonomy to deliver approved works. You'll need a strong track record of guiding teams, budgets and coordinating the associated contractors in-line with relevant departmental guidelines and procedures and quality expectations.

Essential requirements:

* Demonstrated ability to work with the Agency's statutory obligations as they apply to conservation natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage and resources and experience in exercising delegated authority for law enforcement.
* Demonstrated experience in, or detailed knowledge of, various trade skills and experience in the purchase, management and utilisation of plant and equipment.
* Demonstrated experience in ensuring effective planning, management and completion of maintenance programs and construction of park/recreational facilities such as roads/fire trails, walking tracks and buildings; and pest and animal control.
* Demonstrated ability and experience to operate and supervise the operation of machinery, plant and equipment for maintenance and construction work whilst complying with Work Health and Safety standards, with a willingness and ability to obtain Workcover certification if required.
* Demonstrated ability to perform a fire crew leadership role and incident control functions.
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate and current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent including four-wheel driving certificate, and willingness to fly in light aircraft.

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW's most precious natural places.

Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment) which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
