The Role
Gosling Group is seeking a
Relationship & Business Development Manager
to drive strategic growth and strengthen its market presence in the niche electrical engineering and infrastructure sector.
This is not a traditional sales role. Success requires credibility, commercial acumen, and the ability to connect client needs with Gosling Group's technical expertise. The successful candidate will build trust-based relationships, qualify opportunities that align with margin and capacity, and contribute to sustainable long-term revenue.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients, consultants, developers, councils, and industry partners.
* Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client challenges and matching them with Gosling Group solutions.
* Identify and qualify new business opportunities that fit capability, capacity, and margin expectations.
* Develop structured business development plans and provide market intelligence.
* Lead tender responses and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and competitiveness.
* Collaborate internally with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations for seamless handover.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in business development or client relationship management within electrical engineering, construction, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
* Strong relationship-building skills and commercial judgement.
* Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate confidently.
* Familiarity with tendering and project delivery processes (Simpro experience a bonus).
* Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications & Traits
* Trade qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
* Self-motivated team player with attention to detail.
