About the Project & Opportunity:
Acciona Construction has been in an ECI contract with our client to deliver the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant. With construction activity ready to start imminently we are looking to add to our delivery team by engaging an Environmental Advisor.
Based in Port Lincoln, reporting into the Environmental and Sustainability Manager, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual environmental specifications, environmental legislation, planning approvals, and other relevant contractual and stakeholder environmental requirements.
Key Accountabilities for the position will be:
* Support the implementation of environmental management and sustainability measures as defined by the Project Environmental Management Plan, contractual and legislative requirements
* Participate in project planning and risk assessment activities to identify and control environmental risks and opportunities.
* Assist with identification and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
* Supports the planning, inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks such as erosion & sediment control, vegetation clearing, night works, heritage protection and contamination management, etc.
* Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and monitoring requirements as defined in the Project Environmental Management Plans (i.e. noise, vibration, water, and air quality, biodiversity etc.).
* Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance against environment and sustainability requirements
Required Skills and Competencies
* Ideally Tertiary qualified in Environmental Management, Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent
* Demonstrated experience in inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks
* Experience in marine ecology would be highly beneficial
* Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel a must
