Our client in the public sector, is seeking a human-centered UX Designer for a 6--month contract to help modernize a critical suite of legacy service applications. This role is based in Adelaide and offers the chance to shape user-focused digital solutions for a large-scale infrastructure uplift program.
You will be the driving force behind the user-centered design lifecycle. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to transition complex legacy systems into intuitive, sustainable digital services.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead qualitative and quantitative research to identify pain points and translate data into actionable design recommendations.
* Develop comprehensive user journeys, service blueprints, and experience flows that ensure accessibility and integration.
* Provide expert advice on interaction design, usability, and best practices to ensure all digital products meet high-quality standards.
* Work closely with technical staff and subject matter experts to align design outcomes with organizational goals.
* Stay ahead of digital design trends to identify opportunities for innovation and delivery improvements.
What You'll Bring
* A minimum of 5 years of recent, professional experience in a similar UX Designer capacity.
* Expertise with common design and prototyping tools, as well as a deep understanding of UX content and taxonomy.
* Proven ability to monitor complex data and conduct in-depth research to understand user behavior.
* Success working within fast-paced, changing environments and the ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines.
* Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a collaborative attitude that fosters buy-in from senior stakeholders.
* A degree in Design, Communications, or a related field.
* Experience in large-scale IT transformation, system migration, or decommissioning programs.
