About the role
McConnell Dowell is seeking a driven Site Engineer to join our Dunedin team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience across construction delivery while contributing to the success of complex and challenging works. As a Site Engineer, you will work closely with Project Engineers and Supervisors to coordinate on-site activities, manage technical documentation, and ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality. The ideal candidate will be based in Dunedin or willing to relocate for this role.
What you'll do
* Coordinate site engineering activities, temporary works, and scheduling.
* Support the preparation of construction programmes, inspection plans, and quality records.
* Provide technical guidance to supervisors and interpret engineering drawings for field teams.
* Undertake inspections, tests, and engineering audits to ensure compliance.
* Monitor progress, manpower, and costs, maintaining accurate reports.
* Manage document control and ensure adherence to McConnell Dowell's safety, quality, and environmental standards.
About you
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
* Previous experience in an engineering or construction role.
* Must have 3 years experience working in Civil Engineering.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
* Able to manage deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced project environment.
