Moree Plains Shire is a region that is actively preparing for growth while offering a distinct country-lifestyle. It is located on the banks of the Mehi River, in the centre of the rich black-soil plains. Its name comes from an Aboriginal word for "rising sun," "long spring," or "water hole."
Moree is a small town of approx. **** people and 13,000 people in the broader Local Government area which means you can really make a difference and feel like part of the community here. The 5 min commute means it's easy to find time to connect to nature and find that work life balance. Moree is centrally located inland in northern New South Wales close to the Queensland border, in one of the most productive broad acre agricultural areas in Australia. Moree is also home to artesian hot spring baths which are famous for their reputed healing qualities. The big skies and open spaces are beautiful. Moree has an airport that flies almost daily to Sydney as well as a daily train service to Sydney. Moree is approx. 5.5 hours' drive from Brisbane.
If you are looking for a place with growth potential, regional character, and the chance to help shape the community, Moree Plains is an opportunity for you. Relocation support available via The Welcome Experience, which is a free concierge service to assist essential workers and their families to move and integrate into the Moree Plains community.
