Lismore
Epic Employment Service Inc.
Vocational Counsellor

Offer description

**Description**:
EPIC Assist is looking for a part-time Employment Advisor to join our team (20 hours per week, working Tuesday to Thursday). This role is dynamic providing support at 6 of our sites across Lismore and our North Coast region.
Are you ready to source employment opportunities, make a great impression, and be the person who makes a real difference in the lives of people with a disability, injury, mental health condition, or health condition? If this sounds like it's up your alley, you might just be a perfect fit for this role.
Why it's easy to love being an Employment Advisor
You will be an essential part of our daily operations and play a vital role in the success of the entire team. Your position as an Employment Advisor is unique and uniquely valued.
This is a role that's your own. You'll be building your own connections, collecting your own leads, and forging and fostering your own relationships. When the people and businesses reflect on the opportunities and benefits from their partnership with EPIC, it's your name on their mind.
You'll have a chance to put those people skills on show. Being an Employment Advisor is first and foremost about connection, so be prepared to leave a lasting first impression everywhere you go.
Your efforts are going towards advocating for people with disability and connecting them with local business. It's up to you to ensure the ball is rolling when it comes to these partnerships. You're an essential component of an efficient machine pushing for daily positive change. Our mission itself - none of it can happen without you.
A day in the life of an Employment Advisor
As an Employment Advisor, each day on the job is different. One day, you might be hitting the road, chasing meaningful leads and relationships, and closing deals with businesses of all sizes. The next day, you could be representing EPIC as a brand ambassador at an expo, leading disability awareness training sessions, and ensuring businesses have the tools and resources they need to support their aspiring workers.
The balance of your work might change as you find your stride, but to start off, it will look a little something like this:
75% creating and sourcing new employment opportunities for your job seekers.
7.5% directly supporting employers to become disability confident, grow their knowledge, and increase the diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility of their workplaces.
7.5% collaborating, motivating, planning, and sharing your ideas, skills, and experience with the team.
10% maintaining and completing records, claims, and other important documentation.
Am I suited for an Employment Advisor role?
If you have skills, experience, or passions that resemble any of the below, this role might be for you:
**Sales**: You have a track record of exceeding sales targets and KPIs. You're not afraid of cold calling. But, more importantly, you know how to make every interaction personal: you do your research, provide tailored, person-centred customer service, and focus on quality, meaningful leads.
**Relationship building**: Building employer relationships, networking, and community engagement is second nature to you. Here, your experience will shine, and our team will value you as a trusted partner for local businesses.
**Proactivity**: The world is your office. Since you won't be constrained to a desk, you won't have someone looking over your shoulder all the time. Your achievements will truly reflect your work ethic and ability, setting you apart from the rest.
**Growth mindset**: You're not afraid of learning everything there is to know about different disabilities. You foster continuous learning and are confident analysing market trends and getting familiar with the latest statistics on disability employment and the benefits of inclusive workplaces.
**Administration**: You don't need to be a tech guru to succeed here, but you do need to have intermediate computer literacy, phone, and record keeping skills.
**Purpose**: You have values that align with our team and EPIC's mission - to enable people, communities, and places to overcome disadvantage and aspire to reach their greatest potential.
