English Teacher
St Augustine's College – Sydney is a Catholic Congregational school for boys in Years 5 to 12, guided by the Augustinian values of Truth, Love and Community. Located on Sydney's Northern Beaches, the College is renowned for its strong academic tradition, commitment to pastoral care, and vibrant co-curricular program.
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative English Teacher to join our English Department in a permanent full‑time capacity, commencing at the start of the 2026 academic year. You will teach English across Stages 4–6 and foster a deep appreciation of literature and language.
Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver high-quality English learning experiences for students in Years 7-12
* Inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking through engaging and rigorous curriculum delivery
* Using evidence-informed practice, formative assessment and explicit teaching to drive student growth.
* Collaborating with colleagues to develop engaging units, resources and assessment.
* Fostering a safe, inclusive and disciplined learning environment aligned to College values.
* Contributing to the broader life of the College and co-curricular activities
About You
You will be an educator who models professional excellence and passion for English. You have:
* NSW teaching accreditation and relevant tertiary qualifications in English
* Demonstrated success teaching Stage 6 English with strong curriculum and assessment literacy.
* Ability to teach English Advanced and/or Extension English would be highly regarded
* Proven experience to engage students in the study of literature, language and writing
* Strong classroom management, communication and relationship-building skills with adolescent boys.
* A commitment to the ethos of Catholic education and to the Augustinian values of Truth, Love and Community.
