Job Description
The Opportunity
Join our high-performing Group Financial Reporting team in Melbourne as a Senior Analyst, where you'll play a pivotal role in driving financial reporting excellence. Your strong accounting expertise and leadership will be key to partnering with finance teams across the business and achieving critical outcomes.
In this instrumental role you utilsie your deep understanding of financial reporting and controls will be leveraged to regularly engage and consult with our core business units, group finance function leads, global head office reporting team in Madrid, and the leaders across Australia and New Zealand.
You will also be driven to improve operational processes, provide quality financial reporting advice, monitor compliance with licensing and regulatory reporting requirements and regularly communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* External audit coordination and project management – act as the primary point of contact for external financial auditors to facilitate an efficient group audit process with our listed parent entity. This includes engaging with the auditors to develop new strategies to improve efficiency and timeliness of reporting.
* Monitor compliance with the various statutory reporting and licensing obligations of individual entities and the Australian Group.
* Financial statements preparation, ensuring appropriate disclosures and managing adoption and transition program for new accounting standards.
* Partner with the Finance Director, Financial Group Controller and Head Office Accounting Team on the establishment of controls and accounting procedures.
* With the support of the Financial Reporting Senior Manager, lead and influence company accounting decisions and IFRS interpretation to optimise accounting outcomes for the business, including input into transactions and other strategic decisions.
* Monitoring of covenant reports for all group entities on a periodical basis.
* Other duties that are consistent with your qualifications, skills and capabilities.
Required Skills And Competencies
* CA/CPA or equivalent qualification.3
* Extensive experience in financial reporting along with a solid background in external audit.
* In depth knowledge of financial statement preparation and the application of accounting standards (both AASB and IFRS)
* Experienced in coaching of junior staff
* Extensive knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and their application in the construction sector ideally
