Senior Manager, Student Transition and Success

The Senior Manager, Student Transition and Success will play a critical role in operationalising UQ's transition framework within the BEL Faculty. This role involves working closely with stakeholders within the faculty and across the university to develop and implement programmes and initiatives that promote belonging and enable student success at all stages of the learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic leadership and coordination of initiatives that support student transition, retention, and success within the BEL Faculty, including implementation of the UQ Transition Framework and maintenance of internal and external partnerships.
* Collaborate with the Associate Dean (Academic) and other BEL Senior Managers (education, marketing, international services, alumni services) to promote a student experience throughout the learning journey.
* Adopt a data‑informed approach, using performance indicators to inform delivery and continuous improvement of student transition services.
* Conduct research and data collection to evaluate initiatives, meet reporting requirements, and present insights to stakeholders, translating findings into actionable strategies.
* Maintain expert knowledge of the field, applying evidence‑based best practices to provide proactive advice and identify new initiatives.
* Lead a high‑performing team, fostering an inclusive work environment, managing staffing, budgeting, and project delivery in line with stakeholder objectives.

About You
* Postgraduate qualifications and a minimum of five years' relevant professional experience in higher education or a related sector.
* Expert knowledge of student transition and success strategies, including belonging, retention and widening participation; strong understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion.
* Experience leading development and implementation of strategic, student‑focused initiatives and change initiatives that improve operational efficiency.
* Extensive experience applying evaluation frameworks and data analysis to inform strategy, monitor outcomes and produce actionable reports.
* Successful leadership of high‑performing teams delivering student‑centred services aligned with internal priorities.
* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build networks, negotiate and engage diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, meet deadlines and provide expert advice to senior leaders with a commitment to integrity and service excellence.
* Experience navigating institutional structures and driving continuous improvement.
* Understanding of BEL faculty disciplines and student cohorts, or ability to acquire such knowledge rapidly.
