About the Opportunity

We are seeking a capable and community-focused Branch Librarian to lead the day‐to‐day delivery of high‐quality branch library services based in Port Macquarie. This role combines operational oversight and professional guidance to staff with expert information support, ensuring our services remain responsive, accessible and aligned to community needs.
In addition to branch support, this position plays an important professional role in supporting reference services, local studies and collection development. You will contribute to maintaining and enhancing access to local history, family history and specialised collections, and provide expert support to customers seeking in‐depth research assistance.
You will help ensure that our collections, both physical and digital, are curated, accessible and reflective of our community, while supporting staff capability in delivering high‐quality information services.
This is an opportunity to lead a team to support our wonderful library and community, while remaining actively engaged in professional librarianship, strengthening both team performance and the knowledge services our community values.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Supporting the day‐to‐day operation of the branch to ensure consistent, customer‐focused services
* Providing supervision, guidance and workflow oversight to Library Assistants and junior staff
* Participating in frontline service delivery and modelling high standards of customer service
* Resolving customer enquiries and operational issues using sound professional judgement
* Supporting access to collections, reference resources and local studies materials
* Contributing to the planning and delivery of programs, displays and branch activities
* Building positive relationships with local schools, community groups and stakeholders
* Identifying opportunities for operational improvement and service enhancement
* Researching and applying contemporary library practices and technologies

To Succeed In This Role You Will Have
* Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Studies (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience supervising staff and effectively planning and prioritising work
* Strong customer service, communication and problem‐solving skills
* The ability to provide professional information support and guidance
* A collaborative leadership style that builds trust and capability within teams
* An understanding of contemporary public library service delivery
* Class C Driver's Licence
* Working with Children Check
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week.
Salary (exclusive of super): Starting in the range of $87,269 to $97,681 depending on skills and experience.
Opportunity for performance‐based increase available after 12 months.
