We're seeking an experienced and proactive Industrial Designer to enhance our Product Development Team. Ideal for a designer looking to advance their career, this role focuses on independent design execution, complex CAD development, and leadership in data and documentation workflows. The scope of work crosses diverse projects, ranging from navigating product gaps and supporting innovation within ABI Interiors' consumer products to designing elevated products for everyday use.
You will collaborate closely with senior designers and engineers, driving high-quality, manufacturable designs with future opportunities for junior team member mentorship. Your proactive mindset, detailed approach, and passion for innovation are crucial to success in this role. What you will be doing:
* Lead the creation of concept-to-production-level designs across multiple physical product categories.
* Develop, maintain, and manage complex 3D CAD models and assemblies (SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor preferred).
* Oversee prototype builds, high-quality renders, and impactful design presentations.
* Manage structured 3D data libraries and digital asset management systems effectively.
* Generate and oversee comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs, technical drawings, and detailed part files.
* Conduct material research, rigorous design testing, and ensure product compliance.
* Actively liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure a seamless transition from concept to production.
* Facilitate and contribute significantly to design reviews, ideation sessions, and continuous improvement processes.
About you:
* A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or Product Design (or an equivalent qualification).
* Minimum of 2–5 years of professional industry experience within industrial design.
* Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor.
* Demonstrable expertise in detailed design, complex CAD assemblies, parametric modelling, and comprehensive documentation workflows.
* Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and complete product lifecycle management.
* Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability in task management, data structuring, and version control.
* Effective and compelling communication and presentation skills
* Experience and openness to collaborating with internal stakeholders and collaborating cross-functionally across teams.
* Experience in consultancy-based industrial design firms and/or in-house leading /established design firms.
* A current portfolio, resume, references, and project progression examples.
* Strong prototyping skills in high- and low-fidelity applications.
* A positive, proactive attitude combined with a commitment to continuous learning and curiosity.
* Independent worker with a willingness to take initiative.
* Embodies a positive teamwork outlook and mateship attitude.

Nice to Have:
* Proficiency in KeyShot or comparable high-quality rendering software.
* Experience in medical, consumer, electronics, or similar product design sectors.
* Experience using tools or methods of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and PDM (Product Data Management) systems (e.g Autodesk Vault or similar).
* Strong sketching capabilities, familiarity with Adobe Suite, or skills in interface prototyping.
