Penangke Cultural Consultants is seeking a strong Aboriginal leader to step into the role of General Manager and help guide the organisation through its next stage of growth. Penangke is an Aboriginal‑owned and operated consultancy working throughout Central Australia and across the Territory. Our work supports communities, organisations and governments to strengthen cultural capability, governance, community engagement and strategic development. About the Role
The General Manager provides whole‑of‑organisation leadership and works closely with the Company Directors to guide Penangke’s strategic, operational and cultural direction. You will lead the implementation of Penangke’s Strategic Plan, support the growth of the organisation, and ensure our work remains culturally strong, accountable and impactful. The role oversees organisational operations, staff leadership, project delivery, governance and financial sustainability while maintaining strong relationships with communities, partners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic & Cultural Leadership:
o Lead the implementation of Penangke’s Strategic Plan.
o Ensure the organisation’s work reflects strong Aboriginal leadership and cultural integrity.
o Provide strategic advice and reporting to the Company Directors.
* Organisational Leadership:
o Oversee day‑to‑day operations and ensure high‑quality service delivery.
o Strengthen organisational systems, planning and accountability.
o Support organisational growth aligned with Penangke’s values.
* People Leadership:
o Lead, support and mentor staff and contractors.
o Foster a culturally safe, respectful and accountable workplace.
* Financial & Commercial Oversight:
o Oversee budgets and financial sustainability.
o Support business development, tenders and partnerships.
o Ensure commercial decisions align with Penangke’s values and community commitments.
* Community & Stakeholder Engagement:
o Build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and cultural authorities.
o Represent Penangke with government, corporate and community partners.
o Act as a cultural and organisational ambassador.
About You
You are a values‑driven leader with strong cultural grounding and the ability to guide organisations through growth and change.
You bring:
* Demonstrated senior leadership experience (GM or similar level preferred)
* Strong cultural knowledge and community connection
* Experience leading teams and building positive workplace culture
* Strategic thinking with the ability to deliver practical outcomes
* Strong governance, financial and organisational management capability
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
* Experience working with Aboriginal‑led organisations, consultancy, community development, government or not‑for‑profit sectors will be highly regarded.
