Bring your professional leadership and expertise in Ophthalmology to the team at Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital.
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.
Currently, the hospital is seeking an experienced medical specialist to take on the role of Head of Ophthalmology and provide direct line management of the department, including human resource and financial management, direct supervision of Medical Officers, oversight of continuous improvement activities, and participation as a member of the senior management team.
Your key duties will include the management of patient flow and demand management strategies, safety and quality, clinical audit and review, staff mentoring and training, and leading a culture of high-performing teams. You will also be responsible supporting divisional clinical governance, operations and strategic programs, fostering partnerships between healthcare providers and leading continuous quality improvement activities to enhance the capacity for multi-disciplinary care and contribute to NT Health clinical leadership.
To be successful you require eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, Fellowship of a relevant Medical College, and recognition as a professional leader in the provision of specialist Ophthalmology services. Effective leadership, interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, along with your special interests in areas such as medical retina, uveitis, paediatrics, and oculoplastic, will contribute to your success.
Applicants will be assessed at both the Senior Medical Officer levels and offers will be made based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.
