Water Quality Officer
Department: Water Resource Division – Department of Lands, Planning and Environment, Northern Territory Government.
Location
Palmerston (fixed from 02/03/2026 for 2 years)
Base Pay
A$81,518.00 – A$103,714.00 per year (Professional 1 – Remuneration Package Range). Salary portion: A$68,904 – A$87,700.
Responsibilities
* Apply experience of scientific & technical water resource investigation projects to assess & interpret field & laboratory water quality data.
* Undertake projects that acquire and evaluate hydrological and water quality data to make resource assessments related to surface and groundwater resources and water quality.
* Deploy industry‑leading water quality and water resource assessment techniques and standards, and apply water quality protocols for data collection and management.
* Prepare project reports and liaise with staff and stakeholders, including laboratories, to ensure project delivery.
Qualifications
* Degree qualification in Hydrology, Chemistry or a similar discipline relevant to the role.
* Demonstrated experience in scientific and technical water resource investigation projects.
* Experience in the application of industry standards and laboratory protocols.
* Ability to assess and interpret field and laboratory water quality data.
* Experience undertaking fieldwork in remote areas.
* Ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and community groups.
