Position Summary
The Property Maintenance Officer supports the effective operations of the School's facilities by contributing to the
presentation, safety, functionality, and ongoing maintenance of the campus. The role undertakes a broad range of
property, grounds, and horticultural maintenance tasks; assists with event setups; and ensures the School
environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, families, and visitors.
The Property Maintenance Officer also supports the Director of Facilities and Asset Management in promoting a
positive and proactive safety culture across the School.
Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated experience in building, grounds, or horticultural maintenance, including the safe operation of
tools, machinery, and equipment relevant to a large School environment.
SC2 Proven ability to prioritise tasks, work independently and as part of a team, and respond effectively to
competing maintenance and operational demands.
SC3 Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices, with the ability to identify hazards, follow
safe work procedures, and contribute to a positive safety culture.

Property Maintenance Officer
Position Summary
The Property Maintenance Officer supports the effective operations of the School's facilities by contributing to
the presentation, safety, functionality, and ongoing maintenance of the campus. The role undertakes a broad
range of property, grounds, and horticultural maintenance tasks; assists with event setups; and ensures the
School environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, families, and visitors.
The Property Maintenance Officer also supports the Director of Facilities and Asset Management in
promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across the School.
Position Responsibilities
Key responsibilities may be modified occasionally to ensure the expected outcomes are coordinated with the
School's Strategic Plan. Without limiting the above, the key responsibilities and duties shall include:
1. Property and Building Maintenance
2. Undertake routine building repairs and maintenance, including minor carpentry, fixture repairs, locks,
doors, windows, painting, and cleaning
* Use a range of powered hand tools and equipment, including drills, grinders, saws, welders and pressure
cleaners
* Assist with maintenance of outdoor structures, pathways, external fixtures and general campus
infrastructure
* Identify potential hazards or maintenance issues and report them promptly to the Director of Facilities and
Asset Management.
1. Grounds and Horticultural Maintenance
2. Maintain the School's lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, and outdoor learning spaces to a high standard
3. Perform mowing using ride-on mowers, tractors/slashers, and other grounds equipment
4. Undertake horticultural tasks including planting, pruning, hedging, weeding, mulching, spraying, and
soil/plant health care
* Monitor irrigation systems and assist with installation, repairs, and ongoing maintenance
* Implement safe and appropriate use of fertilisers, pesticides, tools and machinery
* Support seasonal and long-term landscape improvement works as directed.
* Operational Support and Event Preparation
* Assist with setup, pack-down, and logistical support for School events, ceremonies, and functions
* Maintain cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas, walkways, carparks and recreational spaces
* Assist with movement, collection, or disposal of materials, equipment, and furniture as required.
* Safety, Risk, and Compliance
* Follow all safe work procedures and contribute to a positive health and safety culture
* Use machinery, tools, and chemicals in accordance with training, legislation, and School policies
* Assist in hazard identification, reporting, and basic risk assessments
* Maintain secure storage and safe handling of equipment, fuel, chemicals and materials.
Education / Experience / Professional Qualifications
Essential
* Current Blue Card for Child-Related Employment (or eligibility to obtain)
Desirable
* Trade background/qualifications
* Manual driver's licence
* Experience with small-engine servicing
* Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificates.
Characteristics, Qualities and Skills
Technical Skills
* Knowledge and experience in building repairs and general maintenance
* Skills in lawn, garden, and landscape establishment and upkeep
* Competence in the safe operation of tractors, ride-on mowers, blowers, hedgers, chainsaws, and
small-engine equipment
* Understanding of chemical application, including fertilisers and herbicides (certification preferred)
* Basic computer literacy (email, work orders, record-keeping).

* Capability to participate in event setups, manual handling tasks, and emergency responses as required.
