The Opportunity
The Security Services Engineer supports the development, integration, and maintenance of security products and services within the Woolworths environment, with a primary focus on Cloud security. While collaborating with Senior Security Engineers on high-level design, the Engineer takes full ownership of technical workstreams, driving the implementation and optimization of security services with a high degree of personal initiative and technical curiosity. This role is responsible for executing engineering initiatives that strengthen the security posture of our cloud and on-prem environments. The Engineer ensures that security capabilities are effectively implemented, maintained for high availability, and aligned with cyber security standards to protect against an evolving threat landscape.
What you'll do
* Public Cloud & CI/CD Security: Implement and maintain security controls within cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with organizational standards.
* Security Stack Optimization: Manage the day-to-day health and optimization of the core security suite, including CNAPP, EDR, ITD, DLP, SSPM, and Vulnerability Management.
* Self-Directed Implementation: Independently drive the end-to-end deployment of assigned security controls and automation workflows with minimal oversight.
* Technical Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary technical "go-to" resource for specific security domains, ensuring high performance and visibility across the business.
* Automation & Integration: Utilize software development skills to automate manual security tasks, process security data, and build custom integrations to increase efficiency.
* Advanced Technical Support: Act as the 3rd level escalation point for complex security product defects and incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business impact.
* Evaluation & PoCs: Lead and participate in Proof of Concept (PoC) evaluations for new security technologies, providing data-driven feedback on technical fit.
* Collaborative Design & Documentation: Partner with Architects to translate high-level requirements into functional configurations while maintaining rigorous technical documentation.
What you'll bring
* Cloud Security Engineering: Over 4 years of hands‐on experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining native security controls within AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
* Security Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Java and API integration to build custom data processing scripts and automate complex security workflows.
* DevSecOps & Infrastructure as Code: Strong working knowledge of Terraform or Bicep, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps methodologies to manage security configurations.
* Network & Systems Administration: Deep understanding of networking protocols and experience managing enterprise operating systems (Windows, Linux, and macOS).
* Operational Excellence: Proven ability to handle Level 3 support, troubleshoot product defects, and fine‐tune security platforms for peak performance.
* Tooling & SIEM Expertise: Broad familiarity with various security applications and tools, including exposure to SIEM technologies and their respective query languages.
* Technical Documentation: Skilled in producing high-quality technical guides, system diagrams, and detailed assessment reports for peer and stakeholder review.
* Proactive Problem Solving: A self‐motivated professional capable of identifying technical bottlenecks and proposing solutions independently in fast‐paced settings.
