Structural Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a capable and detail‑driven structural engineer with strong experience in structural design and analysis, and hands‑on expertise using Autodesk Revit software. This role involves delivering coordinated Revit structural models and engineered design solutions for a range of structural systems, including structural steel, light gauge steel framing, reinforced concrete, and precast concrete structures.
You will be responsible for undertaking detailed structural analysis, developing accurate and constructible 3D Revit models, and supporting effective BIM coordination across multidisciplinary teams. The role requires the ability to translate engineering calculations and design intent into high‑quality models and documentation, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and project requirements. This position offers exposure to technically diverse projects delivered using modern 3D modelling tools, BIM workflows, and industry‑leading structural analysis software, from concept design through to construction.
Responsibilities
Carry out detailed structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete, precast concrete, and steel structures. Develop, manage, and maintain Revit Structural models in line with project BIM requirements and design intent. Perform BIM coordination using Revit models, including clash resolution and collaboration with architectural, civil, and services models. Prepare Tekla Structures models for structural steel modeling, detailing, and fabrication drawings. Use structural analysis and design software including:
SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SpaceGass, AutoCAD, Tekla, IdeaStatiCa or similar softwares
Produce accurate structural drawings, construction documentation, and shop drawings from Revit and Tekla models. Conduct site inspections and provide engineering support during construction. Assess materials and structural systems for compliance and constructability. Identify structural risks and propose practical, cost‑effective solutions. Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and quality standards. Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia (BCA). Liaise with clients, contractors, fabricators, architects, and consultants.
Requirements

* Proven experience in structural design and analysis of steel, light gauge steel, reinforced concrete, and precast concrete structures.
* Strong hands‑on experience using Autodesk Revit software for structural modeling and documentation.
* Experience in Steel detailing and drafting residential and commercial projects
* Modelling and detailing using TEKLA Structures
* Managing RFIs and coordinating with engineering consultants through approval and IFC stages
* Practical experience using AutoCAD for preparation, review, and coordination of structural drawings and details.
* Experience developing coordinated Revit models within a BIM environment and participating in BIM coordination processes.
* Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, and IdeaStatiCa.
* Experience with Tekla Structures for structural steel modeling and detailing is highly regarded.
* Sound understanding of Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
* Ability to prepare clear and accurate structural drawings, schedules, and design documentation.
* Experience translating design calculations and engineering intent into constructible 3D models and 2D drawings.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
