About This Opportunity
The Senior Business Analyst (Data) plays a key role in shaping data-driven solutions across the University by leading the identification, definition, and translation of complex business requirements into actionable system designs. Operating at a senior level, this role requires a confident and autonomous professional who can manage broad-scope projects and engage effectively with senior stakeholders. Collaborating closely with internal and external partners-including business stakeholders, solution architects, project managers, and technical teams-the Senior Business Analyst ensures the successful delivery and ongoing support of data-centric applications. This opportunity offers the chance to influence strategic decision-making, improve business efficiency, and lead initiatives that drive innovation in data processes and technology solutions University-wide.
Key responsibilities will include:
o Business and Data Analysis
Analyse complex business processes, operational needs, and data challenges to identify opportunities for improvement. Translate business requirements into detailed data and system specifications, including process flows, wireframes, and data models.
o Solution Design and Quality Assurance
Collaborate with solution teams to design, enhance, and implement IT and data solutions that support business efficiency. Lead testing, data migration planning, and compliance activities to ensure high-quality solution delivery.
o Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation
Act as a senior liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders. Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, present solutions, and influence design decisions by effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
o Strategic Data Management and Insight Delivery
Oversee data integration, reporting, and visualisation processes. Ensure data quality, develop predictive models, and provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
o Postgraduate qualifications in IT or a related field (or equivalent experience), with extensive demonstrated experience in business analysis and stakeholder engagement.
o Proven ability to work directly with senior leaders, facilitate effective workshops and interviews, and communicate complex ideas clearly across a diverse range of stakeholders.
o Strong skills in SQL, data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in data analysis and solution design.
o Exceptional ability to analyse and model complex business processes, identify innovative solutions, and conceptualise and implement new initiatives.
o Experience designing solutions in transformational projects, with expertise in process mapping (as-is/to-be), requirements documentation, and using industry-standard techniques such as BPMN, wireframes, use cases, and user stories.
o Strong grasp of project management concepts, methodologies (Agile and Waterfall), and experience working in dynamic project environments with competing priorities.
o Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend best practices, with an understanding of business process digitisation, data migration (including Salesforce), and workflow automation platforms.
o Highly self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, prioritise workloads effectively, and drive projects forward independently.
