We are now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our fast-paced team and help us expand our data universe and improve our data quality.
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented, motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Node.js/TypeScript, backend engineering, with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), PostgreSQL, APIs and large language models. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining APIs, robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and implementing automation solutions to optimize data matching processes using a variety of techniques including Machine Learning.
The key focus on this role will be ensuring that data about vehicles from multiple sources can be matched and deduplicated effectively to be consumed by our end user applications and APIs.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain scalable applications on GCP.
* Develop and optimize data matching algorithms and processes.
* Implement and maintain batch and stream data pipelines.
* Ensure data quality and integrity across various data sources.
* Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deploy and models
* Utilize TypeScript for development and automation tasks.
* Optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance and scalability.
* Build and maintain APIs for data access and integration.
* Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues and implement effective solutions.
* Ensure end-to-end quality in all data engineering projects, from data ingestion to delivery.
* Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
* 7+ years of proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
* Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and tools.
* Proficiency in TypeScript and experience with interpreted languages.
* In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL and database optimization techniques.
* Familiarity with large language models and their implementation.
* Experience with data matching algorithms and processes.
* Strong understanding of data quality best practices and methodologies.
* Experience in building and maintaining APIs.
* Understanding of Pub/Sub, SQS, Beam, Kafka and other event processing technologies.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with Data Scientists, Analyst, Software Engineers and Product Managers.
Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
* Familiarity with additional cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
* Experience with machine learning model development.
* Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
