This is not a traditional not-for-profit role.
We are partnering with a large, established for-purpose social enterprise operating at meaningful commercial scale across Australia. The organisation delivers essential services, employs a significant frontline workforce, and reinvests surplus to create long-term social and economic impact.
They are now seeking a Queensland State Manager to lead one of their most important and complex regions.
This is a true general management role with accountability for commercial performance, people leadership, operational delivery and growth.
The Opportunity
As State Manager, you will:
* Lead a multi-site, multi-service Queensland operation with full P&L accountability
* Drive financial performance, productivity and sustainable growth in a values-led enterprise
* Lead and develop a large, diverse leadership team across operations, employment services and support functions
* Build strong relationships with government, funding bodies, industry partners and community stakeholders
* Translate strategy into execution, lifting capability, performance and impact across the state
This role sits at the intersection of commercial rigour and social purpose. Success is measured in both outcomes and impact.
About You
You are a commercially minded leader who thrives in complex environments. You may come from:
* A large for-purpose, NFP or social enterprise
* A regulated services, employment, health, or local government-adjacent environment
* A commercial organisation where people-led operations and multi-site delivery are core
You bring:
* Proven experience leading and developing large operational teams with full financial accountability
* Strong commercial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, performance management and growth
* The credibility to operate with local government and senior external stakeholders
* A leadership style that balances clarity, accountability, care and understanding of a diverse workforce
* A genuine interest in applying your skills to work that creates real social and economic value
You do not need to have spent your career in the NFP sector. We strongly encourage candidates from organisations such as waste management, recycling, packaging or related operations to consider a more purposeful move.
You do need to believe that commercial excellence and social impact belong together.
Why This Role?
* Lead at scale, not on the margins
* Shape the future of a major Queensland operation
* Apply your commercial skillset in a role that matters
* Be part of a values-driven executive team that takes performance seriously
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where you can leave a lasting imprint on people, communities and outcomes.
Applications close 11.59pm Sunday 11 January 2025.
