Regional Business Development Manager – Laboratories (APAC)
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Laboratory in the APAC region for the REGIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – LABORATORIES.
Control Union is a trusted multinational TIC company operating in over 80 countries. We specialize in testing, inspections, and certifications across diverse industries. As part of our strategic expansion in APAC, we are seeking a visionary and business-driven leader to spearhead our laboratory operations in the region.
This role is exciting because the ideal candidate would:

The position is based anywhere in the APAC region, preferably where we have laboratory set-up (namely, Australia, China, India, Malaysia, Vietnam).
The position will report to the Chairman of Regional Management Team (RT) Asia.

Tasks and responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and execute a regional laboratory strategy aligned with global goals.
o Set and monitor business objectives, KPIs, and innovation roadmaps.
o Provide quarterly updates to regional leadership on progress and needs.
o Drive accreditation strategies.
* Regional Expansion & Market Development:
o Identify growth opportunities in existing and emerging markets (e.g., agri, biomass, metals, minerals, pesticides).
o Lead market entry strategies and ensure regulatory alignment.
o Build strategic relationships with key clients across multiple countries.
o Foster strong partnerships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and industry bodies.
o Represent Control Union at conferences, forums, and strategic alliances.
* Client Management and Operations:
o Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality reporting to clients.
o Define turnaround times (TAT) and pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness.
o Oversee resolution of client queries and complaints.
o Establish pricing and quotation guidelines to ensure we remain competitive in the APAC markets.
o Ensure client queries and complaints are addressed effectively and in a timely manner.
* Team Building and Development:
o Build and mentor a high-performing regional lab team.
o Promote a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.
o Identify training needs and support career development.
* Financial Management:
o Coordinate with all country Lab Managers and drive the P&L for all APAC laboratories.
o Manage budgets, optimize resource allocation, and ensure cost-efficiency.
o Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
* Advanced degree in Chemistry or related science (Ph.D./MSc., or equivalent) preferred
* Minimum 15 years of working experience in the TIC or allied laboratory set-up
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in international laboratory management and regional expansion and business development.
* Essential exposure to strategic and commercial aspects of laboratory operations and proven success in scaling lab operations across geographies.
* Experience and network of buyers and traders in Agriculture, Textiles, Chemicals, Food industries.
* Commercial acumen and strategic mindset.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and LIMS systems.
Authority & Impact
* Strategic decision-making for lab initiatives and expansion.
* Budgetary control across regional operations.
* External representation in partnerships and industry forums.
