Join our Perioperative Team as a Casual Registered Nurse
The Anaesthesia Department provides anaesthesia services for most of the divisions at Flinders Medical Centre.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role will provide nursing services in Anaesthetics/Post Anaesthetics Care Unit.
Duties for the role will include: Plan, prioritise and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual health care needs.
Recognising, responding and appropriately escalating clinical deterioration, and provide complex care at the bedside of the perioperative patient.
Recognise, respond and report other incidents within the department.
Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting,
Support nursing/midwifery practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates,
Use foundation theoretical knowledge and evidenced based guidelines to achieve positive patient/client care outcomes,
Review decisions, assessments and recommendations from less experienced Registered Nurses and students.
About you: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
Ability to stay calm under pressure, demonstrate appropriate professional behaviours, open to feedback and initiate self reflection
Commitment to delivering high quality and safe nursing care.
Demonstrated competence in Anaesthetic and/or PACU nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
Minimum 2 years' demonstrated experience in Anaesthetic/PACU nursing.
