About the Branch

The ACCU Scheme (Vegetation), Nature Repair, and Analytics Branch supports the administration of projects that sequester carbon through the restoration, regeneration and protection of native forest and activities in the plantation forest sector.

The branch also manages the Nature Repair Market - a voluntary national initiative which opened in March 2025 that enables people to take action to restore and protect the environment.

In addition, the branch also undertakes a broad range of activities aimed at improving engagement, participation and effective administration of both the ACCU Scheme and Nature Repair Market, ensuring the integrity of these schemes.


About the Section

The Nature Repair Market Section is responsible administering the Nature Repair Market scheme. The section:

* Establish systems and processes required for assessing and approving applications under the Nature Repair Act 2023, and subordinate legislation. The applications relate to project registration and issuing biodiversity certificates.
* Ongoing review and design of our ICT systems (CRM and Online Services) to support the administration of the Nature Repair Market.
* Managing the Biodiversity Market Register where project and certificate information is published.
* Providing support to scheme participants in understanding the new Nature Repair Market scheme. This includes developing web content, guidance documents, stakeholder engagement and managing enquiries.
* Advises and assists in the development of the biodiversity certificate market, including supporting participation in the market for biodiversity certificates.
* Looking for opportunities for alignment between the Nature Repair Market and the ACCU Scheme.
* Liaison with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water on legislative instruments made under the Nature Repair Act 2023.


Role Responsibilities and Duties

Under limited direction, the duties of an APS Level 6 Senior Regulatory Officer will include, but not limited to:

* Assess and review applications (e.g. project registration and biodiversity certificates) to ensure compliance with Nature Repair Market legislative.
* Educate and support scheme participants to develop understanding of how to participate in the scheme and compliance with legislative requirements.
* Develop and manage relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to promote the Agency business objectives, manage change and resolve conflicts.
* Contribute positively to risk management, planning and decision-making processes.
* Develop operational policy, procedures, guidelines and technical improvements to support the consistent administration of the Nature Repair Market.
* Build staff capability by sharing knowledge and experience.
* Contribute to development of guidance and training materials for internal and external use.
* Apply professional judgement to perform and communicate robust regulatory decisions, evaluating ambiguous and incomplete information, factoring in risks and being sensitive to context and seek advice and elevate when necessary.


Qualifications/Experience

A wide range of skills and experience to complement a multidisciplinary team.

* Qualifications and/or work experience in environmental science, agricultural, forestry and ecology are highly desirable, but not essential.
* Prior experience assessing applications and decision marking under a complex legislative framework would be an advantage.
