Job Title: Gear Design Expert
Penn Machine Company is seeking a dedicated Gear Design Engineer to drive excellence in gear production.
This position will support both facilities (Johnstown, PA and Blairsville, PA) by designing, developing, and optimizing gear manufacturing processes.
* Machining, hobbing, grinding, and heat treat processes will be improved.
* Engineering drawings and specifications will be interpreted to ensure quality and performance standards.
* Appropriate tools, materials, and machines will be selected for gear production.
* Fixtures and special tooling will be designed to support manufacturing.
* Continuous improvement and Lean initiatives will be implemented.
* The design, quality, and production teams will collaborate to resolve manufacturing challenges.
* Root cause analysis and corrective actions will be supported for gear-related issues.
* Industry trends, gear standards, and emerging technologies will be stayed up-to-date with.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
* 5+ years of experience in high volume gear manufacturing.
* Experience in generated heat treat recipes, metallurgical experience, and gear design.
* A solid understanding of gear types and cutting methods.
* Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM software, and gear design software.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* A strong understanding of lean manufacturing.
