About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Podiatrist for a hospital-based locum role in Regional Queensland. This is a full-time position, commencing ASAP, for period of up to 6 months contract with the potential for extension.
This is an ideal opportunity for a confident rural generalist podiatrist with experience in chronic disease and high-risk foot management. You will work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. The role is likely to include outreach travel once/twice a fortnight to outer islands by ferry, small plane and helicopter.
Accommodation and travel are provided, making this a fantastic way to experience rural Queensland while earning a competitive locum rate.
Role Details
* Location: Thursday Island, QLD
* Start Date: Asap
* Duration: up to 6 months (with possible extension)
* Hours: Monday to Friday | 38–40 hrs/week
* Rate: Up to $100 per hour, depending on experience

* Caseload: Rural generalist podiatry focusing on chronic disease and high-risk foot conditions
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver podiatry services across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings
* Manage a rural generalist caseload with a focus on:
o Diabetes-related foot complications
o High-risk foot conditions
o Chronic disease management
o Wound care and ulcer management
* Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing reviews
* Provide patient education on foot health, prevention, and self-management
* Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
* Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to support holistic care

To Be Successful, You Will Have
* Bachelor of Podiatry (or equivalent)
* Current AHPRA registration as a Podiatrist
* Australian working rights
* National Police Clearance
* Experience in chronic disease and high-risk foot management
* Confidence working independently in rural or regional settings
* Previous rural or hospital experience is highly regarded
