Nursing Director – Sub Acute and Ambulatory Care Services
Provide effective leadership and management of the nursing staff and services and set strategic direction within the Department of Medicine – Sub Acute and Ambulatory Care Service Division of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) in consultation with the Clinical Director – Department of Medicine.
* Manage an interesting and diverse range of specialist services, including Rehabilitation Wards, Renal Units North and Northwest, Specialist Clinics, Diabetes Centre, Hospital Aged Care Liaison Team (HALT), Transitional Care Program (TCP), Refugee Health, Respiratory North and Northwest, Neurology, and Diabetes and Renal Research.
* Report to the Executive Director of Operations and Performance and receive professional support from the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery.
* In conjunction with the Executive Director of Operations & Performance, lead the delivery of clinical governance systems to achieve and promote the highest standards of service delivery, quality improvement, and risk management.
* Direct the operational activities of designated clinical services consistent with Agency objectives and provide effective leadership, coordination and direction for the management of the human, financial and material resources.
* Assist in the development and application of clinical management policies, protocols and guidelines to evaluate services against best‑practice standards.
* Provide leadership and direction in the areas of research/education, continuous quality improvement and innovative redesign.
* Manage clinical and corporate risk within the established framework while ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
* Support Nurse Unit Managers to facilitate a range of initiatives to enhance the quality of patient care by providing a learning environment through mentoring, team development, individual capability development and managing performance.
Qualifications
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $148,470 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Position: Permanent, full‑time, day worker (with on‑call) working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 10 June 2026. Hours to be negotiated with successful applicant.
