Primary objective
Provide high level client focused financial administration services and advice to support the agency meet its financial
accountabilities in accordance with government policies and procedures. The primary purpose is to perform accounts
payable, accounts receivable, procurement and travel processing functions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide a high standard of timely and client focused financial services, advice, reporting and training in accordance with
government policies and practices.
2. Assist with the implementation of approved whole of government or agency finance, procurement and travel policies and
practices to ensure governance and compliance.
3. Administer whole of government financial systems for the agencies, including NTG Pay, Expense8, TRIPS and CabCharge.
4. Coordinate whole of agency taxation returns including Fringe Benefit Tax and Business Activity Statements.
5. Process month-end, year-end and ad hoc correction journals.
6. Maintain various statutory registers and assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
7. Support the finance team with corporate credit card management, travel processing and procurement queries, as
required, in accordance with government policies and practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to work independently to deliver timely client services within tight time deadlines whilst maintaining high levels
of accuracy and attention to detail.
2. Understanding and knowledge of financial legislation, policies and practices relating to taxation, accounts payable,
receivable, travel and procurement.
1. Experience and ability in the delivery of financial services, advice and reporting.
2. Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively with
people from diverse cultures.
5. Competency in the uses of office automation software, accounting packages, spreadsheets, databases and report
generation techniques.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or business.
