Cleveland Youth Detention Medical Centre, is part of the Women's and Children's Service Group within Townsville Hospital and Health Service and provides primary medical care management, including screening, assessment, treatment and referral to secondary and tertiary services for ongoing care of children, adolescents and young people.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker will work within a multidisciplinary team to guide the provision of culturally and clinically safe services and will be fundamental in ensuring ongoing engagement of adolescent young adults with their healthcare needs and health appointments within youth detention and in the community.

Yearly salary: Up to $117,817 p.a.
What's on offer?
* Salary range: $75,090 - $103,261 p.a. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (HWF3).
* 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading and 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
* Provide a high level of culturally appropriate guidance and assistance in the assessment and treatment planning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people receiving care from Child, Adolescents and Young Adult Services Teams.
* Provide cultural support, guidance and advocacy to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers/families/carers and other key stakeholders who may be involved with the person's care.
* This position will be required to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people accessing healthcare services within youth detention.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide direct care and support to young women as per scope of practice, ensuring clear communication with multidisciplinary team about all aspects of care.
Role requirements
* Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
* Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
* Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
* Working with children check required prior to appointment.
