Remuneration: The successful applicant will receive an ARC (or equivalent value) Research Living Allowance, at current value of $41,555AUD per annum 2026 full‐time rate (tax‐free stipend), indexed as per current ARC rates found here: www.arc.gov.au/salaries-and-stipends.
The Opportunity
Multiple PhD opportunities are available within the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) for Sustainable and Green Economy Manufacturing (SAGE‐M). These are industry‐connected placements at the forefront of sustainable chemistry, catalysis, and advanced manufacturing.
Current available projects are:
* Mechanochemical Synthesis of Single‐Atom‐Catalysts (SMC) (Faculty of Science)
* Coatings for Increased Nutrient Use Efficiency in Fertilizers (Faculty of Science)
* Biocatalysis for Complex Molecule Synthesis (Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences)
* Development of Novel Biocatalysts for Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of Complex Small Molecules (Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences)
Successful candidates will be working alongside leading academics and industry partners and have access to world‐class facilities, interdisciplinary training and real‐world industry engagement. Candidate Requirements
Applicants must hold a relevant degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science / Electrochemistry, Physics or a related area) and possess a research‐based Honours or Masters degree (or equivalent). They must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to conduct self‐motivated research within a high‐performing, target‐driven research group. Preference is given to those with a record of publishing research in mainstream scientific journals. English‐language proficiency is required. Applicants must be enrolled full‐time and on campus and cannot already hold a PhD.
The successful applicant will be expected to enrol by September 2026.
