Horticultural Labourer | Mount Tomah Botanical Gardens
About the Role Working within the Horticulture & Living Collections team, you will support the maintenance and development of diverse temperate and alpine plant collections in a World Heritage setting. The role involves hands‐on garden maintenance, planting and landscape works, irrigation and plant health management, and contributing to high presentation standards for public display areas. This is a practical, outdoor role suited to someone with strong horticultural skills who thrives in a dynamic mountain environment.
Hours: 6:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
* General horticultural maintenance, weeding, watering, pruning, mulching, records management, pest control, use of herbicides and pesticides, small plant and machinery use
* Diagnose and treat plant health and pest issues using Integrated Pest Management techniques
* Operate horticultural tools and equipment, including blowers, trimmers, saws, and secateurs
* Maintain garden beds – weeding, pruning, fertilising, hedging, mulching, and planting
* Perform general garden upkeep, including leaf blowing, litter removal, and irrigation setup
* Work on physically challenging terrain, including slopes, all weather conditions and remote location requirements
To be successful, you'll bring:
* Cert III in horticulture, parks and gardens or equivalent experience
* Chem Cert
* Driver's licence required
