We are seeking a Technical Designer – Handbags and Soft Accessories to lead quality assurance in our soft accessories category within Kmart Group.What you'll be doingAs the Technical Designer, you will be the expert on quality and compliance for handbags and soft accessories.
You will collaborate with local vendors, offshore QA/QC teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure products meet safety, construction, and customer satisfaction standards.Key Responsibilities:Lead Quality Assurance: Manage quality processes with suppliers, ensuring standards compliance and resolving inspection issues and customer complaints.Customer-Facing Quality: Investigate and resolve product quality and safety concerns, conduct store audits, and support customer satisfaction initiatives.Technical Support: Serve as the primary contact for technical issues related to accessories for Kmart and Target teams in Melbourne.Product Development Support: Work with buying and design teams to ensure product safety, construction, and quality during development.Compliance & Safety: Keep abreast of regulatory changes and coordinate training with compliance teams and partners.Benchmarking & Audits: Perform competitor benchmarking and store audits; monitor online product representation.Documentation & Systems: Manage sample feedback, approvals/rejections in PLM/GBSS, and advise on hangers/hangtags.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with Buyers, Product Technicians, and Quality teams for aligned and timely delivery.Asia Collaboration: Maintain communication with QA/QC teams in Asia to ensure consistency in standards and processes.To be successful in this role you'll have:Proven experience in handbags and soft accessories, with a deep understanding of materials and construction.Exceptional attention to detail to meet high standards.Strong collaboration skills with Buyers, Compliance, and Product Technicians.Experience in quality assurance, compliance, and supplier engagement.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with PLM systems and product development workflows.Benefits we'll offer you:Flexible hybrid working options under our Flex policies.A team member discount card for Kmart, Target, Officeworks, and Bunnings.Access to exclusive discounts through the Kmart for You program.Eligibility for a bonus program based on performance.Inclusive parental leave and ongoing support via Circle In.Comprehensive learning and support programs.Opportunities to fast-track your career through our Mentor Program.A Kudos recognition program with peer nominations and prizes.Career growth opportunities across the Wesfarmers Group.We celebrate diversity and are committed to inclusive, safe environments where all team members can succeed.
