OverviewThe Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0.
This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history.
It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Purpose of the Role
Responsible for inspecting and assessing the quality and strength of welding work.
Ensuring welds are protected and fit for purpose complying with appropriate International or Australian standards, codes and client specifications.
Verify that documentation, procedures and welder qualifications are in place and adhered to and inspection of welding equipment used.
Qualifications
CWI (IWI-B) Certified International Welding Inspector Basic or CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
AS1796 certificate 10 – Welding Supervisor
White Card
Experience
5 years work experience as a welding inspector
Extensive knowledge of welding techniques and processes
Ability to read and interpret drawings
Knowledge of health and safety practises
Required Competencies

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Well-developed time management skills
High attention to detail
Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Core Accountabilities And Responsibilities
Verify welding specifications and compliances for site requirements, FGJV and subcontractors
Ensure welding procedures are being followed correctly and that welders are using appropriate equipment and materials
Identify the qualifications of welders and the validity of their certificates
Ensure that the correct tools and equipment are being used
Verify that welding equipment is calibrated and in suitable condition
As required (critical welding applications), ensure that base metals, welding filler metals, joint preparations, fit ups, minimum preheat/maximum inter-pass temperatures, welding parameters and weather conditions are compliant to WPS, standards, codes and drawings
Perform visual inspections of welded joints, ensuring they are in accordance with WPS/drawings
Ensure compliance to the required dimensional tolerances
Ensure that NDT will be completed as required by the applicable standards and codes
Maintain records of inspections conducted
Interpret welding symbols, drawings, specifications and codes
Communicate with their direct supervisor on a regular basis regarding welding quality and progress
Identify and report any deviations or non-conformances to procedures, codes or standards
Ensure that all activities/tasks adhere to national and state health and safety regulations
Other Quality Inspection tasks as designated by their direct supervisor
