About The Role
We are seeking a leader and traffic / transport professional to lead our Traffic Operations team. You'll lead a community-facing team in a high-volume environment to resolve traffic and transport challenges, providing expertise and services in traffic, transport and parking management, road safety, traffic infrastructure planning, and asset management.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer - Infrastructure Services, the Traffic Operations Manager provides leadership, operational oversight, governance, expert advice, and stakeholder engagement.

You'll work closely with internal teams in Infrastructure Services, Customer Service, City Access & Transport, City Rangers, Parking Services, City Planning Development & Transport, Legal and Governance, Finance, Design and Delivery teams, and Executive to deliver shared organisational goals. You'll also engage with community groups, businesses, elected officials and representatives and external government agencies.

You'll Be Responsible For

* leading, coaching and developing team supporting collaboration, high performance, growth, and continual improvement
* building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* overseeing the planning of infrastructure, initiatives and implementation of transport strategies and policies that reduce private vehicle dependency, encourage walking, cycling, calm traffic, enhance safety and manage parking and kerbside allocation
* developing and managing traffic facilities assets including capital works programs, designs, contract management, consultancies, and traffic signs portfolio
* providing expert advice on traffic, transport, parking, and road safety matters at high-level
* preparing and controlling operational and capital budgets, fees and charges, cost estimates to ensure effective service delivery within budget targets
* administering the Local Pedestrian, Cycling, Traffic Calming and Transport Forum and authorising traffic and transport works.

To Succeed In This Leadership Role, You'll Need

* tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant professional experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, or a related discipline.
* proven ability as a champion and expert in transport management, including advanced problem solving and decision-making skills
* demonstrated experience in financial budgeting and forecasting, procurement development and management
* demonstrated experience in preparing technical briefs, capital work programs, managing consultants and asset management of traffic projects
* demonstrated leadership and extensive experience engaging, working, and developing positive relationships with a diverse range of high-profile industry stakeholders
* highly developed interpersonal, oral, written communications and presentation skills.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
