The Penneshaw Pub — a beloved local icon overlooking the stunning waters of Backstairs Passage — is looking for a Full-Time Sous Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team.
As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with our Head Chef to deliver fresh, locally inspired dishes that showcase the best of Kangaroo Island produce. We take pride in our relaxed coastal dining experience, great food, and welcoming atmosphere — and we're looking for someone who shares that passion.
What You'll Do
* Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
* Lead and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high standards of quality and consistency
* Assist in menu development, specials, and event catering
* Oversee stock control, ordering, and kitchen hygiene compliance
* Ensure service runs smoothly — even when things get busy
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar role (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie)
* A passion for fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients
* Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fun pub environment
* Relevant qualifications (Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
