Overview
Job description to format and validate for quality standards. This position is for a Training Development Specialist at John Holland, working within the Training Academy to transform complex technical content into engaging training that lands with learners.
Responsibilities
* Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to clarify needs, define problems to solve, and shape the right solution with a methodical approach that maintains momentum and trust.
* Transform complex, often unstructured technical content into clear, learner-friendly training using strong copywriting, storytelling, and visual design techniques (diagrams, infographics, workflows).
* Design and develop learning across multiple formats, including:
o eLearning modules, including interactive builds using Articulate Rise 360
o Instructor-led and blended learning resources with engaging PowerPoint slides, facilitator notes, and learner resources
o Instructional videos and multimedia learning assets
o Project inductions and technical training content
* Apply visual and multimedia capabilities using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop to create visually compelling learning assets and support multimedia production.
* Contribute to standardising learning content approaches to improve consistency and enable scalable, repeatable training rollouts across the business.
* Implement feedback mechanisms, evaluate training effectiveness, and continually refine content to lift engagement and retention.
What youll bring
* Essential
o Proven experience designing and developing training across eLearning and instructor-led delivery
o Strong instructional design capability (e.g., ADDIE)
o Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
o Experience working with SMEs to extract, structure, and refine content
o Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting capability
o Experience using eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360)
o Experience with visual/multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
o Experience using a PC (Windows) and Microsoft products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
* Highly regarded
o Experience developing training within construction and engineering environments
Qualifications
Ideally, the role should be supported by a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, along with qualifications in instructional design, graphic design, and eLearning instructional design.
