 
        
        Planned Resources is searching for an experienced and motivated Payroll Officer to join a local council in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of payroll processing, ensure compliance, and provide exceptional support across a energetic organisation. 
The Role: 
As Payroll Officer, you will be a key part of the People, Culture, and Safety team, responsible for delivering accurate and timely fortnightly payroll in line with relevant awards, agreements, and legislative requirements. You will assist with payroll input, processing, and reconciliation, while providing expert advice and support to employees and management. 
Key Responsibilities: 
- Prepare, process, and finalise fortnightly payroll data, including adjustments, back payments, and superannuation contributions.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and reporting to support compliance and auditing requirements.
- Respond to payroll enquiries with professionalism and discretion.
- Assist in system configuration, process improvements, and implementation of controls in CHRIS Payroll or similar systems.
- Support monthly payroll deductions, Workcover entitlements, and other payroll-related financial processes.
Who You Are: 
- Demonstrated payroll experience, preferably in a large or complex organisation.
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and agreements (Local Government experience desirable).
- Experience with CHRIS Payroll or similar payroll systems.
- Strong analytical and numeric skills, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications & Prerequisites: 
- Proven experience in payroll processing and related functions.
- Experience within local government is desirable but not essential.
