Hillarys Yacht Club (HYC) is excited to offer a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join our Maintenance team on a casual basis.
Since its founding in 1986, the Club has proudly maintained a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere in a stunning location along the Indian Ocean. HYC is a vibrant family, recreational facility and a thriving community hub, featuring a marina with five jetties, 272 boat pens, a spacious clubhouse, boat lifting and racking services, and a junior clubhouse.
Our active membership enjoys a range of on-water activities, including sailing, diving, power boating, angling, and paddle sports.
The Role
This primarily outdoor role oversees all maintenance for the Hillarys Yacht Club clubhouse and marina, as well as some upkeep of the Club's boat fleet.
We are offering both casual and part time flexible hours for the right candidate, with occasional weekend work required.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Bosun & Facilities Coordinator, this role involves:
* Maintaining the clubhouse, grounds, and assisting with the maintenance of five jetties, and 272 pens.
* Supporting the Club Bosun with marine maintenance tasks.
* General handyperson duties, with opportunities to learn new skills.
* Assisting with the general maintenance of the Club's power boat and training fleet.
* Maintaining vessel storage areas.
* Assisting the club with social events on weekends.
* Ensuring WHS compliance, including safety audits.
* Overseeing risk management and assisting with maintenance budgeting.
* Coordinating with contractors and external stakeholders.
* The successful candidate will be required to work efficiently and diligently in a professional environment and will need a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask to meet strict deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
General maintenance skills are essential.
Previous experience working in a marina environment, with some boat knowledge and experience desirable.
Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build strong customer relationships.
Attention to detail, excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and the capacity to manage multiple competing priorities.
Flexibility is required with the ability to work alternate and additional hours from time to time, which includes some weekends and special events.
Current Australian Drivers licence and own transport required.
Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
Pre-Employment Medical will be required.
Marine qualifications and sea time highly desired but not essential.
General tasks will include, but not limited to:
* Carpentry, plumbing, painting, and brick paving
* Gardening, lawn care, and grounds maintenance
* Overseeing and maintaining building facilities, to ensure everything is in proper working order
* Wall, ceiling, and render repairs
* Managing rust treatment and debris removal
* Pressure cleaning and waste bin monitoring
* Managing sprinklers and reticulation systems
* Installing fixtures like TVs and speakers
* Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, web browsing)
Overall, this role ensures a neat, well-maintained environment across the Club grounds.
