Purpose of the Position

The Family Violence Safety and Support Officer's primary role is to enhance the safety of victim survivors of violence and the safety of their children through supporting people using violence to heal and build accountability. The role will empower community by raising awareness of family violence, and support victims through intensive and individualised case management, as well as co-facilitating group programs aimed at increasing victim survivor safety and reducing violence.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Work as part of the Family Violence Support Service team, to support the safety and empowerment of victim survivors and their children.
* Improve accountability of perpetrators of domestic and family violence.
* Co-facilitate and play a leadership role in the delivery of group programs.
* Provide support planning and educate victims and perpetrators of domestic and family violence, including:

* Assess referrals into CQID and screen for domestic and family violence.

* Ensure risk assessments are undertaken and safety plans are developed when family violence is identified.
* Develop and review case plans for implementation of family violence safety and person using violence accountability plans and therapeutic interventions.
* Link participants to other services as necessary.

* Work collaboratively and provide advice and support to CQID colleagues and enquirers on safe engagement and risk management strategies for families affected by domestic and family violence.

* Participate in home visits where appropriate.
* Participate in local family violence networks and maximise service capability in partnership with local domestic and family violence services.
* Document work according to reporting requirements and contribute to the continual improvement of the Family Violence Support Service model.
* Participate and contribute to the organisation's compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS).
* At all times work within CQID's Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Other responsibilities as directed by the Manager and General Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

* Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver's Licence
* Current Working with Children Check, 'Blue Card'
* Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
* Demonstrated experience in family violence service delivery

Desirable

* Tertiary qualifications in human services or relevant discipline (allied health, social work)
* Experience at successfully collaborating with and developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members
* Experience at successfully collaborating with and developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members
* Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
