Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital As the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Prostate Cancer, you will work collaboratively across all health services and sectors to support continuity and high-quality care for individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer.
You will apply advanced clinical knowledge of the unique health needs, preferences, and circumstances of this patient group to optimise health and wellbeing across the entire care continuum including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up, and palliative care.
You will draw on specialised expertise in supportive care to provide tailored information and education, psychological support, and advanced clinical management to patients and their families.
This role will be offered on a permanent full-time basis, working equally across two site locations, Murdoch (0.5FTE) and Subiaco (0.5FTE).
The Position Provide specialised prostate care, information, education and support to patients in accordance with evidence based clinical practice guidelines.
Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and relevant community service providers to coordinate the delivery of patient-oriented, specialised support services across the care continuum, to patients and their families.
Provide expert clinical advice and clinical leadership on evidence based prostate care services to nursing caregivers, allied health and other members of the multidisciplinary team or to any other health care providers a person with prostate cancer may interact with.
Communicate appropriate information to relevant caregivers and Medical Officers regarding patient and service issues.
Ensure documentation reflects appropriate standards and meets legal requirements.
Ensure relationships with all patients, their families and stakeholders are conducive to a harmonious working environment, and work to resolve conflicts as they arise.
Respond appropriately to customer feedback and complaints, seeking assistance to resolve issues as required.
Accept all patient and carer feedback and provide recommendations for improvements/solutions where needed Contribute to planning, problem solving and management of change in the service to improve the quality of services provided.
Actively support the service quality plan and reporting, initiating and following through on quality projects Contribute to the achievement of Service and Divisional operational objectives.
You will hold current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with relevant postgraduate qualifications in cancer care nursing, or commitment to working towards same.
Relevant experience in advanced practice with respect to management of patients with prostate cancer and/or oncology/urology nursing experience will be essential for the role.
You will bring experience delivering high-quality patient care within a safety and quality framework, working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities.
You will be committed to a safe working environment and confident using clinical systems.
Experience in developing and delivering education programs for patients, carers, healthcare professionals and the community is also required.
