 
        The key duties of the position include We are looking for an experienced Finance Accountant who can support the management of AFMA's financial transactions. About the team The Business Partnership and Strategy (BPS) section delivers the following functions: Budget, Planning and Reporting to enhance the agency's strategic delivery of its legislative requirements through activities including internal budgets, cost recovered budgets, external estimates processes, non-financial reporting corporate planning, portfolio and central agency liaison. Financial Reporting to ensure quality, timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders through activities including management reporting, Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) reporting, quarterly performance reporting, and reporting to AFMA's audit and risk committee and Commission. Financial transaction processing and management to ensure the accurate, timely, efficient and legislatively compliant delivery of services including payroll services, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card management, debtor management, tax (GST and FBT), general insurance, cash/appropriation and bank relationship management. Procurement expert advice on the financial framework, including Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act and Rules, the Accountable Authority Instructions, AFMA financial delegations, procurement policy and process and reporting, panel arrangements and collaborative agreements. The position Reporting directly to the Financial Operations Manager, this position is suitable for an experienced Financial Accountant who is details driven and enjoys problem-solving. This position will support the management of AFMA's financial transactions including month-end processes, reconciliations, executive reporting and maintenance of financial policies and processes. The BPS section is a small, dynamic and innovative team. The successful candidate will need to work closely between the financial accounting and budgets function to build transferable skills and provide support when required. Capabilities We are looking for someone who has demonstrated: understanding of Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks understanding and application of financial procedures and policies and ability to address non-compliance impacting AFMA ability to analyse, report, advise and communicate financial information ability to apply an advanced understanding of financial analysis tools, systems, options and features specific to role ability to research, interpret and apply legislative requirements including accounting standards to resolve complex issues.
