We are seeking a Director of Clinical Services Mental Healthcare for the WheatbeltRegion.
Renumeration: MP Year 1-9: $412,161 -$523,436 p.a.*
*Includes Arrangement A base salary $333,305- $467,354 p.a., 12% employer contributed superannuation andprofessional development allowance $34,696 p.a.
In addition, this position isentitled to a separate Head of Department Allowance (1 to 4FTE)$10,473
This is a fixed term – full timeappointment for 5 years with the possibility ofextension(s).
We are open to a Fixed Term – PartTime or Fixed Term – Sessional appointment, however a Fixed Term -Full Time appointment is preferred.
About The Role
The role of the Director Clinical ServicesMental Health (DCSMH) is pivotal in the effective management andgovernance of the Wheatbelt Mental Health Service. The DCSMHbenefits from a supportive and collaborative team environment. Thispositive work culture contributes to the overall success of theWheatbelt Mental Health Service. Working closely alongside theRegional Manager and serving as a key member of the Mental HealthExecutive Advisory Group, the Clinical Director oversees adedicated team of 4.5 medical staff, ranging from Consultant,Registrars, and locum staff. This leadership position involves notonly day-to-day operational responsibilities but also overseasinitiatives within the mental health space.
One of the primary focuses of the role is theongoing development and enhancement of the Wheatbelt Mental HealthAlcohol and Other Drug Consultation Liaison Service. With a keeneye on expanding the reach and impact of this vital service, theClinical Director is at the forefront of strategic planning andimplementation to better serve the community.
Furthermore, the role entails activeinvolvement in the expansion of the team through the RuralPsychiatry Training Program, showcasing a commitment to fosteringthe next generation of mental health professionals. Thisforward-thinking approach not only enriches the team but alsoensures the delivery of high-quality mental health services to thepopulation.

Wheatbelt Mental Health Service providesconfidential, quality, community mental health care to people ofall ages in coastal and Wheatbelt communities. With compassion,optimism and cultural understanding, we provide a safe andsupportive environment for healing and growth to make a differencein people's lives, so they feel valued and connected. The team issupported by a great group of professionals that providecomprehensive assessment and treatment for people with mentalhealth problems. The service can also provide training and supportto other organisations and professionals.
The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service is a teamof Mental Health Professionals including Consultant Psychiatrists,Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Child and AdolescentProfessionals, Aboriginal Workers and Community Mental HealthNurses. Locally based, multi-disciplinary teams are in Northam,Gingin, Merredin, and Narrogin. Regular visits are made to outlyingareas within the region to meet community needs. Outreach issupported by telephone consultation and videoconferencing. Clinicalliaison is provided to hospitals within the region.
TheSuccessfulCandidatesWillBring:
* Unconditional GeneralandSpecialist registration by the Medical Board ofAustralia
* Fellowship of the RoyalAustralian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (orequivalent).
* Extensive knowledge,clinical leadership experience, and implementing & evaluatingclinical governance systems.
