An NSW Government Agency is seeking experienced and customer-focused Call or Contact Centre Operators to join their Road Safety business line based in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong communication skills and a background in customer service to work in a fast-paced, structured contact centre environment. Role Details Position Title: Call / Contact Centre Operator Number of Roles Available: 7 Location: Newcastle (Onsite Only) Start Date: 13 March 2026 End Date: 12 September 2026 Pay Rate: $35.80 per hour Super Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours per day) Roster & Working Hours Successful candidates will work on a 7am – 7pm rotating roster, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). 2-week rotating roster structure Same shift worked for a 4-week period before transitioning Shifts rotate between early, mid, and late starts (e.g. 7am, 9–10am, 11am) No contractor will work the same shift for two consecutive rosters Key Requirements Candidates should have: 2–3 years customer service experience (call centre, administration, retail, or similar) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and professionalism Experience working in an office-based environment Intermediate computer skills, including: Typing and navigating multiple screens Strong email etiquette Microsoft Office proficiency (especially Outlook and Teams ) Ability to learn new systems quickly (training provided) Previous NSW Government experience is preferred but not essential. Screening & Assessment Police Check required Shortlisted candidates must attend an in-person Assessment Centre in Newcastle with the Hiring Manager Duration: approximately 60–90 minutes Training & Nesting Program All training is delivered onsite and must be attended full-time: 5-day General Fundamentals training Phase 1: 8-day product training Phase 2: 8–9 day product training Training is spread over several weeks. Between sessions, candidates will begin taking supported calls under guidance from Team Leaders and Subject Matter Experts. Work Arrangements Onsite work only No hybrid or work-from-home options available at this time
