Offer description

About the Role

As Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in managing geotechnical controls across a large‐scale, dynamic mining environment. This is a rare opportunity to gain exposure to the full lifecycle of major open‐pit operations – finalising the current open‐pit mining stage and commencing a new cutback stage, while also supporting multiple satellite pits. An opportunity through cross‐pollination with underground geotechnical engineering is another possibility.

You'll lead a small team of geotechnical professionals, ensuring systems and processes are effective, mentoring engineers and graduates, and driving innovation through proactive solutions. The role offers variety and provides challenges, from overseeing daily geotechnical tasks and monitoring systems to delivering short and mid‐term projects that enhance safety and efficiency.

Key highlights

* Exposure to large scale pit stage finalisation
* Developing a new cutback stage
* Diverse geotechnical conditions: hard rock and oxide environments
* Leadership scope with 3–4 direct reports and graduate development
* Opportunities to work across open‐pit and underground operations
* Community based culture with strong team spirit

About You

You are a technically strong geotechnical professional who thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment. You bring a proactive mindset, leadership capability, and a passion for mentoring and developing others. Your ability to anticipate challenges, innovate, and implement effective systems will set you apart.

What we're looking for

* Qualifications: Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Civil Engineering (geotechnical focus). Professional registration (RPEQ/RPEV) and AusIMM Chartered Professional (CP) status highly regarded.
* Experience: Minimum 7 years in geotechnical engineering, including at least 2 years in a senior capacity. Exposure to both open‐pit and underground environments is advantageous.
* Technical skills: Proficiency in geotechnical modelling and CAD software, Rocscience, and Microsoft Office. Strong understanding of mine planning, ground control, and risk management.
* Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and manage performance objectives.
* Attributes: Self‐starter, adaptable, collaborative, and committed to safety and continuous improvement.

Your Benefits

At Evolution, we support, develop and reward everyone who chooses to be a part of our bright future. Your benefits include relocation assistance, salary packaging (i.e. novated car leasing, remote area housing), life insurance and income protection, quarterly performance bonuses, employee share scheme, referral bonuses, recognition program, study assistance, discounted health insurance, discounted gym membership. Bus transportation is provided to and from West Wyalong at the beginning and end of your shift.

This roster is 5:2 / 4:3, 10 hour day shifts, however flexible arrangement considered.

We understand that flexible work means something different to everyone and encourage you to have a conversation about the flexible work options available.
