As the Business Development Officer for Omni, you will play a key role in driving Omni's long‑term growth and strategic positioning. Working within our small Business Development Cell, you will support the Business Development Manager to identify, shape, and pursue opportunities that align with Omni's strategic direction.
Based in Canberra, with occasional domestic travel, you'll strengthen Omni's profile through trusted relationships across defence, government, and industry sectors. You will collaborate closely with Omni's Business Divisions, Communications, Marketing, and Government Relations teams to build opportunity pipelines and contribute to the development of compelling proposals that drive commercial success.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced business development or capture professional with a strong background in Defence, National Security, Critical Infrastructure or related government‑facing sectors. They bring a solid understanding of Commonwealth procurement, Defence contracting and the capability lifecycle, along with the ability to analyse complex markets, identify emerging opportunities and translate insights into actionable commercial strategies.
They are a confident communicator who builds trusted relationships across Defence, government, industry and internal stakeholders. Highly organised and analytical, they manage pipelines effectively, support capture planning, and contribute to strategic decision‑making. Personally, they are collaborative, adaptable and values‑driven, with the judgement, resilience and integrity required to operate in a dynamic, mission‑focused environment.
Key Requirements
* Be an Australian Citizen
* Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 minimum)
* Have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
Additional Requirements
* Proven experience in business development or capture management within Australian defence, national security, critical infrastructure, or aerospace sectors.
* An understanding of Commonwealth procurement, Defence contracting and capability lifecycle.
* Tertiary qualifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are desirable. Existing network within Defence, National Intelligence, security and Critical Infrastructure is desirable.
