About the role
As the Quality, Training and Clinical Governance Manager, you will play a viral role in ensuring the organisation maintains the highest standards of quality, compliance and clinical governance. You will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement if a quality management system compliant with ISO 15189, supporting ongoing accreditation with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
In this role, you will lead the development and oversight of staff training and competency frameworks, working closely with department leaders to ensure structured training programs and continuous professional development opportunities are in place. As the responsible person for clinical governance within the laboratory, you will provide governance oversight, ensure regulatory compliance and foster a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Ensure an effective quality management system (QMS) is implemented and maintained across all Clinpath locations.
· Establish and maintain an organisation wide Quality Manual.
· Ensure regulatory compliance and registration/accreditation with external organisations such as but not limited to; NATA, Medicare and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
· Ensure a robust system of correction action and prevention action is in place to facilitate continuous improvement processes.
· Maintain an awareness and understanding of up-to-date legislation relating to laboratory accreditation and regulation i.e. Australian Register or Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) and National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC).
· Construct and supervise a program of internal and external audits against defined quality performance measures, ensuring immediate and follow up actions are taken in compliance with NATA standards.
· Provide support, training and education to employees around accreditation and compliance.
· Ensure an appropriate document control process is implemented and that mechanisms exist for monitoring compliance with document control and reading.
· Maintain a database of staff training and competency.
· Maintain a laboratory-based risk register along with approved mitigations.
· Document changes to IT software packages and where appropriate, document completed end-to-end testing and ARTG registration.
To be successful you will have:
Essential:
· A bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science (or equivalent).
· Minimum 5 years' experience within a clinical laboratory setting.
· Experience of NATA accreditation processes to ISO 15189.
· Previous experience in a senior role within a pathology laboratory
· A demonstrable understanding of clinical governance requirements
· Excellent communication skills and the capacity to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
· Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
· High-level computer literacy and experience managing data and document control systems
Desirable (but not essential):
· Qualifications in quality management
· Membership of professional body relevant to the post such as the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS)
