Westco Motors is a family owned and operated, multi-franchise automotive dealership group based in Cairns, supporting a large and growing team across sales, service, parts and administration. Technology plays a critical role in how we operate, and we are looking for an IT Support Officer to join our IT Department who enjoys hands-on problem solving and supporting our staff in a busy, fast paced environment.
This role suits someone with a technical or troubleshooting background who likes to get stuck in, learn new systems, and take ownership of day-to-day IT support. If you're early in your IT career, recently out of school or university, or coming from a technical trade or helpdesk background, we encourage you to apply — attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as experience.
About the Role
As our IT Support Officer, you will be responsible for supporting our internal systems and users across the dealership. You'll work closely with staff, management, external vendors and manufacturers to ensure our technology runs smoothly and continues to improve.
Key responsibilities include:
* Onboarding and offboarding staff, including user accounts, devices, access permissions and system setup
* Providing first and second-level IT support to users across multiple departments
* Troubleshooting hardware, software, network and connectivity issues
* Supporting desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices and IP phones
* Assisting with the operation and upkeep of our automation platforms and workflows (e.g. Make, Zapier and similar tools)
* Data-related tasks including data entry, cleansing, extraction, analysis and reporting across a wide range of data sources, including DMS, CRM, BI, Online, Manufacturer and third-party platforms
* Supporting, maintaining and creation of internal systems/platforms, AI tools and business automations
* Assisting with IP cameras, footage retrieval, security access control and related systems
* Supporting and maintaining network infrastructure and firewalls (Switches, WAPs, Point to Point Wireless - Ubiquiti & Sophos)
* Liaising with external IT providers, vendors and manufacturers when required
* Assisting with system upgrades, rollouts, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintaining good IT security practices and system reliability, including internal Help Desk ticketing and knowledge base maintenance
About You
We're looking for someone who is reliable, helpful, approachable and technically capable, with a strong interest in technology, problem-solving and supporting our team members.
You may have:
* Previous Experience in an IT support, helpdesk or technical role OR
* A technical or troubleshooting background (IT, networking, electronics, programming, systems, automation, etc.) OR
* Recently completed school, TAFE or university with a strong interest in IT and hands-on systems and ready to start your career with Westco Motors
Ideally, you will have:
* A logical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
* Basic understanding of Windows environments and user support
* Experience supporting Microsoft 365, email and user accounts
* Interest or experience with networking, VoIP, automation or systems integration
* Good communication skills and the ability to work directly with non-technical users
* Show initiative and have a positive attitude, willingness to learn and take ownership
* The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
* Experience with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) such as Units (Auto-IT), Pentana, Titan etc is highly regarded
