This dynamic role puts you at the heart of community development, providing expert advice to Council and local organisations, driving best‐practice programs, and delivering innovative initiatives that promote participation, health prevention and long‐term sustainability. You'll work closely with sporting clubs, community groups and commercial partners to strengthen networks, build capacity and support thriving, inclusive sport and recreation environments.
From shaping strategies, masterplans and policies to managing open space use, supporting grant opportunities and preparing high‐quality council reports, this role offers the chance to make a real impact by helping our community play, connect and thrive, now and into the future.
Qualifications And Experience
* Tertiary qualification in sport and recreation, health, community development or related discipline is desirable, considerable experience in a similar position within a community development setting will be considered.
* Demonstrated project management experience and knowledge in community sport and recreation service provision, planning, program development, implementation, and evaluation.
* Ability and experience in engagement principles with the community, council departments, sport and recreation clubs, government departments and diverse stakeholders in the implementation of sport and recreation initiatives and health promotions.
* Experience in community development and capacity building along with the ability to operate within a community planning framework which promotes the principles of social justice, access, and equity.
* Demonstrated research, analytical and problem‐solving skills including the ability to identify gaps and trends.
* High level of initiative, acumen, and ability to self‐manage work in a demanding, diverse, fast paced environment with changing and conflicting demands.
* Well‐developed oral and written communication skills with experience in preparing detailed correspondence, reports, and submissions of a complex nature.
* Demonstrated ability to monitor, manage and report on project and program finances, within organisational and legislative requirements.
* Current Queensland "C" class driver's licence.
