Executive General Manager Fleet and Asset Management

As the largest Tasmanian‐owned passenger transport company, Metro Tasmania plays a vital role in keeping the state moving and connecting people and communities through a comprehensive network of bus services operating across Hobart, Launceston and Burnie. Metro Tasmania is a dynamic and evolving organisation, supported by a diverse workforce of more than 500 people across the state, united by a shared commitment to delivering safe, reliable and customer‐focused public transport services that support everyday life and economic activity. The organisation has a number of significant strategic initiatives underway, including the procurement of an integrated ticketing system, the development of intelligent transport systems, and the trialling of zero‐emissions buses.

The Executive General Manager Fleet and Asset Management is accountable for the end‐to‐end management and performance of Metro's asset portfolio, including the bus fleet, civil infrastructure, buildings, workshops, operational systems, tools and equipment, ensuring assets are safe, reliable, compliant and fit for purpose to support consistent service delivery.

Based in Hobart, the role leads strategic asset management, lifecycle planning and capital investment programs to optimise asset performance, manage risk and deliver value for money, while strengthening preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure asset availability meets operational needs.

The Executive General Manager, Fleet and Asset Management will ensure strong governance, statutory compliance and proactive management of asset, safety and infrastructure risks, and deliver strategic advice to the CEO and Board to support Metro's current and future service delivery.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role leading large, multidisciplinary asset and infrastructure portfolios within complex, regulated environments. Proven capability in developing and delivering strategic asset management and capital plans, including major infrastructure or fleet renewal programs, is essential. A strong track record of building and leading high‐performing technical and operational teams, driving cultural uplift, and applying highly developed commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills is also required.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in an Executive Leadership Team, committed to innovation and progress in building better transport for Tasmanians and shaping the future of public transport in the state.
