As a Book Department Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in our mission to provide essential services to Central Coast families. Since 1962, we've been making a difference in our community, and our Op Shop is at the heart of this work.
We're looking for book enthusiasts who can help us sort, organise, and display our ever‑changing collection of pre‑loved books, ensuring they find new homes at fair prices. Your contribution will directly support our disability services while promoting sustainable shopping in our community. Key Duties
* Sort and assess donated books for quality and saleability.
* Price books according to our Fair Price Promise guidelines.
* Organise books by genre and create engaging display arrangements.
* Keep book section tidy and well‑maintained.
* Monitor stock levels and rotate books as needed.
* Assist customers with book‑related queries when required.
* Handle and store damaged/unsaleable books appropriately.
Skills and Experience
* Basic literacy and ability to identify different book genres.
* Good physical ability to lift and move boxes of books.
* Organised and methodical approach to sorting.
* Customer service skills and friendly demeanour.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Previous retail or library experience beneficial but not required.
* Must be reliable and able to commit to regular shifts.
